French “gloubiboulga” or concoction

Once upon a time there was a language rich in subtlety and shades of meaning, with an unmistakable tinge of romanticism.

Also, once upon a time there was a cold and merciless law which deemed it too complicated.

They are massacring our beautiful French language and I cannot help but feel truly outraged about it.

Fortunately, the Académie Française has had its say, and voted thus:

“In conclusion then, as far as the Academy is concerned, it is vital to implement the remedies desired by so many of our fellow citizens from primary education onwards, thus re-establishing the conditions for a genuine transfer of knowledge. Hence the challenge for a real overhaul of our educational system, which would once again place the acquiring and mastery of knowledge at the center of its concerns, and whose incidental provisions will not allow for their exemptions.”
